What we do

Exodus Ministries is an intensive, comprehensive, residential discipleship program for mothers reuniting with their children.

Our Impact

Exodus Ministries is a 501 (c) (3) non-denominational Christian organization established in 1985. We serve mothers from all ethnic backgrounds who have demonstrated a willingness to make positive changes in their life. These women are dealing with the residual pain of having been separated from their children for a long period of time and do not have the immediate financial resources to sustain their families. Exodus helps them and their families to become productive members of society by serving their spiritual and physical needs.

A Real Story of Grace

Hear from one of our resident graduates, Courtney. Her story is inspiring and a beautiful picture of the restoration we see, everyday.

Our Programs

Through the Exodus program model, these women are provided a chance to change their destiny along with that of their children. At Exodus they re-invent themselves by developing life and money management skills, becoming employed, starting a savings account, and most importantly – becoming a positive influence for their children to make correct life choices. Purpose, self-esteem, courage and trust are integrated into the “new” parent role model and passed on to their children where the wounds from incarceration are most often the deepest.

Discipleship

Through Bible studies, personal mentoring, recovery classes, and healthy accountability, we aim to encourage the Women of Exodus to become strong women of faith. Putting aside all of the discouragement this world has thrown at them, relying only on the redeeming love of their Savior.

Job Placement Assistance

Obtaining employment in the current economic climate can be a daunting task. Add the fact that you are a felon and it’s even harder. We walk with these women to find gainful, stable employment. We encourage them to set healthy boundaries, allowing them to excel at their most important job—being a mother.

Financial Planning

Many women come straight from jail with nothing more than $50 to their name. Once they have obtained stable employment, we work to help them start a savings account. We help them distinguish between ‘want’ and ‘need’, encouraging them to plan for the future of their family.

Parenting classes

Partnering with skilled volunteer teachers, we provide weekly parenting classes. With a wide-range of topics, from trauma-based care to healthy cooking, we rely on these classes to help these mothers flourish in all areas of parenting.

“Take it from me, a child of Exodus Ministries, what you learned there will have an incredible impact on you and your children for the glory of God.”

April Wallace

“April Wallace knows barbering is more than just a means to look good. It’s also a means to a better life. The Hamilton Park native used the trade, along with her business skills, to restart her life when she was released from prison in 2010 after serving 10 years for drug charges…When she’s not in the barber shop or taking online classes, Wallace volunteers with Exodus Ministries…”
